Sailor Sam has come to life....

Smiling Sailor Sam SnipPet is finished and has packed his bags to head to the UK! Paws crossed that he has a safe trip to his wonderful home.

Alice has stepped off the pages...

...and come to life! I just finished this custom order Alice doll. She is 8" tall and will live in her very own "Alice's Palace" in Atlanta.

I have never done a sculpted piece in black and white, so this was a challenge and also very fun. You know I LOVE color, but it was nice to not have to worry about picking the perfect colors. I used black paint, ink and pastels to get desired illustrative effect.

WIP Tweedles and such....

I have been trying to get all of the custom orders on my list sculpted this week....lots of bird cake toppers, mad hatters and this pair of Tweedles for a very special customer. I was scared to try these, but once I jumped into it, the challenge was fun. The customer who requested them is the biggest doll collector I know, and she is particularly wild for Alice in Wonderland. I think she now has 27 Alice dolls from various fantastic artists. She collects dolls of all sizes, but she is particularly interested in miniatures. She creates whimsical "rooms" around all of her miniature dolls and characters. So, these Tweedles had to be around 3" tall to fit into her mini Tweedle room.

Snowy Saturday = Sweet SnipPets

When it snows and snows, the best thing to do make SnipPets! It's been easy to stay inside and get artwork done this week. So, other than multiple trips to the vet and a few much needed yoga classes, I have been glued to my desk.

I had a very special request to create a Valentine munchkin in memory of a beloved kitty named Henry. I was honored to make this handsome and sweet furry boy into a SnipPet. Many thanks and purrs and headbonks to Milo and Alfie's mom!!




I also finished a Valentine bluebird with a message heart. I thought this would be such a cute, thoughtful gift for a man to give to the special lady in his life. It could also be a creative way to propose with a "Marry Me!" heart. I can completely customize this little guy...any animal, color scheme and message on the heart.

Miss Biscuits and some Butch babies...

Just had to post a few new photos of our little foster girl. A wonderful lady is coming to meet her tomorrow. Our fingers, toes and paws are crossed that they fall madly in love with each other! I don't know how anyone couldn't adore her. I wish i could keep her permanently but my house is reserved for the oldies, the shy kids, the disabled/injured folks, the not so pretty kitties...you know, the "unadoptables". I prefer to call them quirky and unique. Those are the ones that truly pull at my heartstrings.

I have been busy working on some fun little Valentine creations. I hope to get them all painted by New Year's Day. I LOVE Valentine's Day!!!! It's my favorite...always has been.

I just finished two custom orders for a very special client. She wanted me to create a munchkin doll and an ornament in honor of her beloved dog, Butch. His favorite toy as a puppy was a purple and red gingerbread man, so I had to include that and it inspired his outfit too. She requested that one of the pieces feature a heart with "mom" on it, so I thought an angel version of Butch would be perfect with the little heart. Butch has had many health struggles but his mom has taken amazing care of him and he is doing beautifully! In fact, he will celebrate his 12th birthday in a few weeks!

Wowee! Time is whizzing by so darn fast! I cannot believe that Christmas is less than a month away. I am FINALLLY about to sit down at my art table today and start on some custom SnipPets and a few fun new creations for the ACC show in March! Meet Melissa Mittens

I had a wonderful, special request from artist, Susan Faye. She commissioned me to create a doll representing her beloved kitty, Melissa Mittens. I am thrilled to have been chosen to create this tribute to such a fine feline. Susan says that Miss Mittens had a wicked sense of humor and would have loved to juggle mice if she could have :). I think she would have thoroughly enjoyed having these little gray critters in her paws! Melissa Mittens was long and wiry, so she got some super long, skinny legs and a less "robust" figure than some of my dolls have. I hope that this doll captures a bit of the joy and fun that the original Melissa Mittens provided her mom with!

Best Valentine's Day Surprise!

I recently commissioned the wonderfully talented Susan Faye to paint a family portrait for my husband and I. She finished it this week and featured it on her blog today!
