SnipPets Celebrating!
My newest little SnipPet critters are ready to celebrate birthdays, baby showers or simply the joy of every day! I created these with the hope that they would be very special, unique cake toppers that could be displayed and treasured in a child's room or nursery for many years. Happy celebrating!!!

A few more smiling cats....
Just wanted to share a few more illustrations.... I think I am getting into a groove with this. More cat chat coming soon! We are hoping to TNR another feral cat colony this week. In the meantime, I'll be illlustrating as much as I can. This goal is to complete one a day. Better get crackin'!

Custom paintings
I have been taking a break from the clay for a little while to work on more paintings. I am almost finished with a custom sugar skull rabbit for a wonderful customer who LOVES rabbits! I really enjoy painting the details of the sugar skulls...fun to get lost in the patterns and vibrant colors. I completed the second painting last week and delivered it to a customer in Raleigh. She is redecorating her little boy's room with a cars/trucks/planes theme and wanted his favorite animal, a turtle, driving a car down a winding road with a bible quote she had chosen. I added in a little flag with his name and put his birthdate on the license plate. She said that Tyler giggles whenever he looks at the painting which is now hanging over his bed. I think that is the perfect stamp of approval :)!

Cupcakes and bunnies du jour :)
I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am right now. I battled severe back pain for about 12 days and yesterday, I was finally pain free and functioning normally. So, first I cleaned the house and then made some cupcakes :)! I also went cat trapping to try to finish TNRing a nearby colony but had no luck...won't even go into the wild goose chase debacle that occurred :(. And today, I am thrilled to be back at the art table. Thank goodness!
Here are the cupcakes of the day...chocolate mint!

and two custom rabbits completed and ready to go to their new home.

B is for Bunny! Finally finished a pull toy.....
This week got a little crazy and I was a bit scattered, but I super glued myself to the art table all day yesterday and managed to complete this piece. There are so many parts to these pull toys which means lots of color decisions. I do quite a bit of staring and thinking and pondering colors. The only thing I was sure of was that I wanted a turquoise blue spotted ellie! Still trying to come up with a name for this one...
I haven't decided when or where this will be available for purchase. I want to live with it for a little bit and finish the other two. I'll keep you posted!
I had a horrible time with photographing this piece. I spent an hour changing backgrounds and lighting and am still not happy with the outcome. The rabbit's head looked washed out against a brown background yet the white is not great either. I'll keep trying, but here is the best I could do for now....
Happy weekend, everyone!!

First SnipPets for 2011!
As I wrote the title for this post, I realized that I have still been writing "2010" on everything for the past 7 days! Oops!
I want all of you to know that one of my New Year's Resolutions is to improve my blogging frequency and substance immensely this year. I have lots of big plans both personally and professionally and want to make sure I put a lot of love and effort into my blog. I want to share fun and inspiring topics, tips and stories instead of just notifications about my group and shop updates. So please stay tuned and thank you for continuing to visit me :)!
I just finished up a few happy little Valentine critters. I added these two to my shop today. Meet Olivia Bunny and a very sneaky, smiling Cupid Cat!

This bunny rabbit has been busy picking peas and carrots in the garden! I wanted to create a rabbit with a spring feel, but not quite Easter-y (yet!). He's in my Etsy shop right now.

Happy Friday Fun!!

First off, i must announce the winner of my bunny blog giveaway! Congratulations to a talented fellow artist/blogger, ButterCup!! My mini bunny clown SnipPet will be hopping to your place very soon! MANY THANKS to all of your who commmented on my giveaway post. You guys are the BEST! You bring lots of love and sunshine to my days :).
I took that photo in my kitchen. I scored those ceramic bunnies on sale last year at Ballard Designs and found the teacup planters on the clearance rack at one of my favorite shops in Atlanta. They are all sitting on an antique wooden ironing board. The window treatment in the background is a set of vintage pillowcases hung on a mock clothesline.
This next photo shows a piece that i refurbished last fall. I purchased this old dark wood Sears dresser at Goodwill for $62. My husband took one look at it and thought i was crazy, but i knew it had tons of potential. I thought it would work perfectly in our kitchen for storage. I primed and painted it, distressed the edges, and added ceramic knobs. I made a few of the knobs in a class and found the others at the Hobby Lobby 50% off...a huge steal! Can you tell i LOVE a good bargain??!

OH, and look, what IS that super cute piece sitting on the shelf???? Why, it is an adorably fabulous Lulette house by artist and blogger, Jenn, of Noodle and Lou!! I am a huge fan of the Noodle and Lou collection, and I am thrilled to have one of her lovely creations. Her artwork is as sweet and special as she is.

SHOP UPDATE!!!
Last but not least, I want to remind you that my White Rabbit and Frog Prince SnipPets are now available on Pfatt Marketplace! Click here for more info.

Bunny Blog Giveaway!!!
Happy Monday, my wonderful blog friends!
I feel like i am totally out of the loop! Last Thursday, we headed to Raleigh to surprise my mom for her 70th birthday, so i have been away from the computer for days. We had a wonderful weekend. I went to the cat shelter, Safe Haven for Cats, where my mom volunteers and helped clean and feed the precious kitties there. The facility is amazing! Every city should have a cat rescue just like theirs. Next stop...Suzanna's Antiques! My mom is an artist and loves to create broken china mosaics, so we dropped off some of her artwork at Susanna's. To top off the day, we headed to Chapel Hill for lunch and some reminiscing. (My parents met at UNC and so did my my husband and I.) We ate at Mama Dip's...the ultimate in southern comfort food...and then walked down Franklin Street and through campus. It was clear and warm and sunny....perfect Tarheel heaven!! On Saturday, we enjoyed another sunny day walking around the flea market and my parent's neighborhood. That night, we went to a special birthday dinner with relatives at a fantastically delicious restaurant, Magnolia Grill, in Durham. Last but not least, we watched our team win their Final Four game!!!! GO HEELS!!!
What a lovely weekend....sigh....it was hard to leave mom and dad and come back to Kentucky yesterday. Back to reality!!
It is cold, rainy and downright dreary here, so i decided to do something to perk things up a bit. It is definitely time for a giveaway, so in honor of Easter, I am offering this polka dotted mini rabbit to you. He was hand sculpted with paperclay, painted with acrylics, embellished with a ribbon collar and placed on a vintage tart tin pedestal. The whole piece measure about 4" tall. If you'd like to win this little treasure, just post a comment. The winner will be announced on Friday (April 10).
