Circus Elephant No. 2
I finished my second circus elephant yesterday. I am pleased with how she turned out. I wanted to do a white elephant instead of a gray one this time. What do you think? I grappled with what color combination to use....i am definitely on a red kick right now. I think the yellowy orange, apple green and lipstick red give her a good punch! My Rooney kitty helped me immensely with this elephant...he picked out paintbrushes for me to use, washed my hair while i was working and tested out the red paint on his nose. What a fabulous assistant :)!!! I am hoping he will help me finish up an accordion playing panda today.
Check in tomorrow for info about my March Etsy promotion!! And don't forget to comment on my last post in order to have a chance to win one of my SnipPet plush dolls! Have a super weekend!

Wednesday SnipPet Giveaway!
Is your pet a SnipPet??? If he or she has been spayed or neutered, then yes, your pet is a SnipPet! Every pet should be snipped. It is the only way that the pet overpopulation crisis will ever come to an end. I can't tell you how many desperate emails i get every day begging people to come rescue healthy, adoptable cats and dogs in shelters. There just aren't enough homes for all of them. We must start at the root of the problem and stop zillions of kittens and puppies from being born every year.
In honor of Spay Day USA, I am giving away one of my SnipPet plush dolls. All you have to do is comment on this blog entry and let me know that your pet has been snipped. The winner can choose either the cat (Sunny SnipPet) or the dog (Stuart SnipPet) version. I will pull a name from the hat next Wednesday, March 4 at Noon. Spaying and neutering is the kindest cut of all!!! See, Stuart and Sunny have been snipped...they have the stitch mark and hearts to prove it :).

What's on the Sculpting Table?
This week I have a new elephant, cat and panda in process. Hopefully, they will be dry by tomorrow and i can start assembling the parts and really bring them to life! It's amazing how ghostly they look before the paint goes on.
I moved into a new studio space last week and today was my first day actually working there. It feels a bit strange not to be in my home studio, but i really needed to get away from the distractions that tend to arise around the house. I miss having my furry babies nearby and being able to stay in PJ's while i work, but i can do that on the weekends. At least my orange tabby, Rooney, can't steal all my paintbrushes and colored pencils like he has been doing lately! Crazy boy.

What a fine frog fellow....
I feel terribly disconnected from my blog friends! I have been sick all week and have gotten a bit behind on everything. My top priorities were to get my new studio finished before a gallery hop that is going on tomorrow night and to finish 2 new pieces that i got started on last week. Well, i did get those things done...now if i could just kick this cold out of my system!! Ok, no more whining....more fun things to discuss.
I'd like you to meet my long legged frog puppeteer! He is definitely brightening up my world with his turquoise duds and red accents. When I started creating him, i wasn't sure what sort of entertainment he was going to provide us with....and then, magically, he became a puppeteer. The rabbits were especially fun to make, and i enjoyed figuring out how to turn one into a mini marionette. Those long skinny legs, knobby knees and big feet remind me of my awkward childhood years :).
Mr. Frog is available on etsy right now. Happy almost Friday to everyone!

Best Valentine's Day Surprise!
I recently commissioned the wonderfully talented Susan Faye to paint a family portrait for my husband and I. She finished it this week and featured it on her blog today! It was a very special and heartfelt Valentine gift. Look how cute my hubby and our 6 furry babies are! Susan captured all of their unique qualities...like Rooney's little white "milk" mustache and Rosie's funny white nose and cheek. It's just purrfect! Please visit Susan's blog for more info about her "Cat Ladies" artwork. http://www.365catladies.blogspot.com/

Rosie Buddha Kitty
This is my sweet Rosie and the painting that she inspired. Rosie was living in one of our feral colonies in Atlanta. We always suspected that she was tame, and we finally got around to trapping her one hot August day. Well, she meowed and meowed (most ferals are totally silent in their traps) and we knew that she needed to come off the street. I felt so awful because she had been out there for many months and always sat alone up on an air conditioning unit. I immediately felt a strong bond to her, so we decided that rather than find a home for her like the rest of our rescues that she needed to stay with us forever :). I cannot express how much i love this crazy girl!! She is the funniest, quirkiest kitty...this buddha baby has absolutely stolen my heart. All i can say is, what idiot decided to abandon such a special cat???!! Well, i feel that way about abandoning ANY cat....
Rosie often sits in this "Buddha" position, so i decided that i had to illustrate it in a painting. Hope you like it!

Candy colored confections....
Look at these yummy colors!!! These little creations have certainly brightened up my studio. I needed a break from my labor intensive and somewhat tedious sculptures...AND i was dying to use my new polka dotted ribbons...so i came up with these. What ARE they, you ask?! They can be many different things....unique placecards for a party, pincushions, a decorative accent on your desk...many possibilities! And the fun part is that I can personalize them with a name or word of your choice.
I'll be adding a few to my etsy shop today, so please stop by...Valentine's Day is right around the corner! It's my favorite holiday!
