A Theater of Spooks in the works....

Pixie and Cheetoh are helping me design this soon to be Halloween theater! We are pondering jack o'lanterns...owls....raccoons....and cats, of course. I am anxious and excited to get started on this one. My mom found this beautiful clock frame at a flea market awhile back, and I finally got it painted black and ready for its spooky transformation. Let the sculpting begin!

Happy Friday to all! I just added a few more crazy smiling kitties to my shop. I'll be finishing up a sweet rabbit girl today, and then next week I will be having some major sculpting sessions. I need to get going on a Halloween theater, another set of Tweedles and of course, more cats :).

Punka Munk

Punka Munk is one amazing old girl. I have been staring at her through our glass door for almost 2 years so it is surreal to have her inside and be petting
her. I was FINALLY able to trap her Friday night after countless tries
since we moved here. I literally fell into a pile of tears when I saw her in the trap. She has been pregnant over and over and would have her kittens somewhere far off in the woods. I have no idea what happened to all of those litters but not a one ever appeared. So sad and frustrating to watch and wonder about. Well, Punka Munk is now spayed, vaccinated and safe inside!!! What a relief. She is almost completely toothless...don't know how she was eating the dry cat food I put out. She is eating 3 large cans of wet food a day now :). She is also deaf...can't hear a thing. Yet another reason to be amazed at her survival with all of the cars, trucks and wildlife looming around. I was never sure if she was feral or just a longtime stray who was scared and cautious. Well, there is no doubt that she once belonged to
someone. She is super sweet and loves attention and affection....purrs and stands on her tippy toes for a back scratch. How could someone have let her go and put her through this?

During her spay surgery at the TNR clinic, they found a tumor in one
of her mammary glands so my regular vet will be removing that in a few
weeks. I read some scary stats on the internet about mammary tumors,
but we will just have to stay hopeful and be grateful that she won't
suffer outside no matter what.

I just moved her from our foster bathroom into my art room, so she
will be my art assistant. I am soooo looking forward to spending
all day with her and showering her with love. She is already sitting on the sofa in here taking a bath. Brian isn't thrilled at the prospect of another cat being here, but he totally understands her situation. I hope he will be ok if she
has to stay as a "permanent foster", but i promised I'd try to find
her a suitable home. We'll see.... I am already totally in love with
her and cry when I am with her...for so many reasons.

Purrs to all,
Carrie

Cat Trapping Success!!!

This past weekend was the monthly feral cat spay/neuter clinic. To make a long story short, Brian and I managed to trap 2 mama cats that we had been trying to get FOREVER!!! It was a GREAT night! I was jumping for joy and crying with relief all at the same time. One of the mamas lives outside at the blind man's house where we have been TNRing for year. I have 2 kittens from her most recent litter because they were sick and needed to be rescued, and we trapped the 3rd kitten, had him neutered and he went back to the man's house where he will stay inside and be very loved. I'll write about the other mama cat tomorrow...she is a heartbreaker and is staying in our upstairs foster cat bathroom for the time being.

Tired Mama Callie after her spay surgery...no more kittens for her to care for!!!

Little Julius...now neutered and living inside, safe and sound!

Pixie and Cheetoh napping the afternoon away....

Ooops, the camera woke them up! These two cuties will be going to Good Mews in Atlanta after they are snipped later this week.

Itty Bitty Backyard and a little bit of cat chat...

It feels like I haven't done any cat chatting at all lately!!! I need to be better about blogging in general! I have lots to share....just haven't been able to find the time lately. So, this week I will be putting my blog at the top of the list.

I trapped two male cats a few weeks ago at my house. They both had been showing up for meals daily and were very easy to trap. I wish I had taken photos of them, but totally forgot. I have 2 new foster kittens...their photos and story will be shared this week. And last night, I had some MAJOR good luck on feral kitty trapping for the spay/neuter clinic today. I will take pictures and divulge that adventure soon too!

For now, I just thought I'd share some fun phots of our little backyard. It is tiny, but we love it. When we moved in 2 years ago, it was nothing but grass. It has been amazing to play and experiment and watch it evolve. I am clueless about gardening so I just jumped right in and figured I would learn from experience. I have a few more whimsical touches to add, but here is its current state....

The first morning glory bloom!

Chocolate mint and violas growing in an antique milk strainer...

Parsley in an old teapot...

love this one...Ramsey, one of our feral kitties is peeking under the gate...

I found a vintage bowling ball and asked my mom to make a mosaic gazing ball with it.

The Tweedles

I finished up this pair of tiny Tweedles this weekend. I have to admit that I thoroughly enjoyed creating them! If they weren't commissioned by a special customer, I never would have attempted them. I am grateful that I had some gentle prodding to push me outside of my comfort zone. They are 3 1/2" tall and will go into a miniature Tweedledee and Tweedledum inspired room. Bon Voyage, boys!!

Spookytime Jingles updates at Noon tomorrow!

A little change for the STJ update....instead of the usual monthly midnight time, Spookytime Jingles will be updating at Noon tomorrow. Dani Nelson, our fearless and tireless leader, has a son who has been in the hospital undergoing tests for an illness. Please keep them in your thoughts!! Despite this challenge, she is still managing to update our work as scheduled on the 13th...just a teensy bit later in the day. So, that means you all can sleep in and enjoy the spooky new creations at lunchtime :).

Here is a peek at my Halloween offerings....

Americat for the Pfatt update!

The Pfatt Marketplace June update will take place at midnight tonight. Americana is the theme, so I pondered how to put a SnipPet spin on that and came up with Americat! He is one gleeful and patriotic kitty...very proud of his stars and stripes! The Kitty in Bloom ornament that I posted about a few days ago will also be available. Smiling summer SnipPets are definitely here!

Calling all cat lovers...Fritz needs our help!

Another blog, Parade of Second Chances, has posted an urgent need for donations to cover surgery for a badly abused cat. I know you people out there reading are the best of the best. If you can come up with any dough, even a tiny bit, send it their way, would you? Thanks so much!!!

WIPs SnipPet Spooks for STJ

A peek at two Halloween WIPs for this month's STJ update.

I realized that I really needed to attempt a pumpkin head doll for a change. I had a vision of him juggling and thought, why not let him juggle a cat's head and a frog's head??! A sort of spooky idea, but the entire piece will still have a silly and happy vibe!

I haven't made any owls in WAY too long, so this little guy was a hoot to sculpt. (sorry, couldn't resist :)!) He will be holding a pumpkin lantern on his pole.
