For me, art is theater....

People often ask me how I get inspired or why I do what i do.... Much of what i create is an escape from reality...a respite from an often cruel world. Last year, someone told me that i should "paint my pain". Nooooooo! I want to express joy and whimsy and fun. My animal rescue work is often extremely depressing and emotionally draining, so I use my art as therapy. It keeps me moving and provides a special, safe place to travel to every day. For me art is theater, it is magic... I like the thought that when i close the door or turn off the lights, my little animal characters come to life and dance and sing...just like in the storybooks we read as children. Can't you see this circus crew creating quite a clatter in the middle of the night :)???

I decided that it was high time that my circus have a ringmaster!!! How can the show go on without a leader?!! Here is my leopard ringmaster in process. I am anxious to get him finished. He is going to be showcased inside an antique clock frame that I found at a flea market a few months ago. It has been sitting on my desk waiting to be used for just the right art piece.
